Update on Stolen Laptops

Charlottesville, Va.- Voter Registrar Sheri Iachetta has sent out a letter to city voters. She reassures the public that no one, whose identities were stolen, has reported identity theft. The two laptops were taken in a burglary Nov. 5, 2008 at the Tonsler precinct polling station right after the election. The computers were double password protected.

Do I feel reassured? No. I had forgotten about it. Now I think something is up. The computers contained the names and addresses of registered voters. Did they contain only information about Tonsler or city-wide? The letter is "out of an abundance of caution, the State Board of Elections has asked us to inform you." You can get your social security number changed to a DMV number for free.

My blood boils every time I'm reminded of this chicanery. Like Bill Clinton's Motor Voter Act (circa 90's) and ACORN, it should be another major red flag!

If the laptop was from out of the City Voter Registar's Office, you can be sure whoever has it has a DETAILED list of voters from Tonsler Precinct at the least. Also, depending of the thief's hacking skill, it could also provided a means or links to access such of other voter lists (i.e. through the Commonwealth's/State Election Commision)

This is precisely the kind of crap that leads to the dead turning out to vote and other suspiciously increased dubious descrepencies. This disenfranchises every legitimate voter!!!

This is not just a mere shame, it's an actually crime something as this was by chance permitted and possibly unscrupulously perpetrated!!!!!
